MONOLITH HOUSE – yucatan inspiration
So, this house is a statement about connection to the earth, to oneself, to the core, while opening the door for connection with close people that form our tribe. This is the reason we chose a monolithic aesthetic, with a reclusive main façade, while allowing openings toward private spaces.
We got our inspiration from contemporary Yucatán architecture, defined by its monolithic presence and refined materiality. The house is enveloped in chukum, a natural stucco that enhances its earthy tones and timeless appeal.
A deliberate contrast defines the design: the main façade remains closed, ensuring privacy and minimal street presence, while the interiors open seamlessly toward private outdoor spaces, creating a fluid connection between architecture and nature. Large openings, shaded terraces, and permeable brickwork foster natural ventilation and light, shaping a home that is both protective and inviting.
