classic meets modern

It was quite a challenge to play with classic design elements on a contemporary canvas. We wanted to tell a story of heritage, elegance and maturity but in an up to date tone of voice, since the apartment is used by a couple of grandparents with their granddaughter visiting daily. We created a warm and homey space with an aristocratic touch, only not too pretentious or distant. We imagined a chromatic scheme with Scandinavian-inspired furniture to which we added glam decors like wall mouldings and precious finishes (travertine, velvet and brass accents).

The present living room, it was divided initially in two (having a dominant depth, more than double the width, composed by a big hallway and a living room) therefore resulting a hard to furnish space, lacking light, but with a very important purpose: bring together the family, as the house center. Therefore, we united the spaces into a single room, and incorporated the hallway into the living room, this way making space for the dining table. To enrich the wall opposite to the window and to add a signification to the dining area, we designated a fireplace that is bordered by black marble.

The long and quite narrow kitchen has been complemented by the furniture with vertical accents and decorative doors. The round table brings the space a casual vibe and visually links the two parallel kitchen counter areas.
